Smog Free Tower
What is it?
The Smog Free Tower is a 7 meter tall tower that provides a local solution
of clean air in public spaces. Studio Roosegaarde, the creaters of the
smog free tower worked together with governments, students, and the clean-tech
industry in order to make a whole city smog free. Towers have been set up
in South Korea, China, the Netherlands, Mexico, and Poland. The function of
the tower has been validated by the Eindhoven University of Technology and has
won multiple awards including the Successful Design Award China, Platinum A'Design
Award, and the German Design Award for Excellent Product Design.
How does it work?
The creater if the tower claims he has created the worlds first smog
vaccum cleaner. The Smog Free Tower uses patented positive ionisation
technology to remove the particles from the air in order to clean it.
It is equipped with environment-friendly technology, cleans 30,000
cubic meters an hour and is powered by a small amount of green energy.
Where does it all go?
All of the smog collected is turned into rings. These rings are then sold
to help finance the project. Each ring only cost around ~$300 much cheaper
than the average engagement ring. It is made of a stainless steel band set
with a cube of compressed air polution When you buy a ring you donate 1,000
cubicmeters of clean air. All the smog collected not put into rings is stored
inside the tower.
